This write-up is as a result of a consummation during this my mission visit to Nigeria (May 2-July 2 2007) of cottage research spanning over twelve years in the mission field on how mission work can efficiently be duplicated in Africa.
From my study, I have come to realize that beyond money, being able to find a diligent and dedicated rural minister/missionary is the greatest need in Africa. Africa needs men with the heart of Nehemiah and the mind of Elijah if Africa must be turned into the tabernacle of God. There are a lot of ministers parading themselves about, but it takes God to see one that understands the heartbeat of God.
The answer still goes back to the word of the Lord over two thousand years ago, "that the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the Harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest" (Matt 9:37-38)
In the early 80's God led many of us to Tulsa, the then city of Faith from different countries of Africa, to incubate and nurture our Faith and put a burden on us for our continent Africa. Most of us, after our studies, returned back to Africa to put our hands full on the plow of God in the vineyard of God in Africa. Like Africa's Nehemiah's, many of us are doing the bidding of the Master in the different countries of Africa.
For my family, the Lord led us up the corporate ladder in Nigeria as Chauffer driven Engineering sales manager of Halliburton Nigeria Limited and then down to the lowly streets of Rumudara in Port Harcourt, harvesting souls and preaching the Gospel to the poor for over ten years without any regular income and where we must pray and believe for the next daily bread. It was Faith Missions, and we had to learn to live by Faith the hard way, but it was good, for we lived in the immediate presence of God.
We are willing vessels in the hand of God, we appreciate the enormity of the work facing God in rural Africa and will always be part of the solution, but we are also faced with family needs and directions that must be addressed. The church universal is at the age of the "Church at Ephesus" (Rev 2:1-4), where most Churches and individuals worldwide have lost their first love and have entered into self-love programs, and missionaries are curio items. Right now, only the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses seem to still have passion for missions and evangelism in Africa and worldwide. What a pity!!
The purpose of these write up is to make our study and experience available to the body of Christ and to Christ in particular so that He can use it to accelerate his work worldwide. It is a birthing.
Our burden and pregnancy are being birthed into Wealthy Christian Africans living in economic palaces in Diaspora and into and others that love God for Africa and American Friends of Africa so that many can be pregnant with what made us pregnant and travail like Zion and bring forth thousands of Antioch Churches throughout Africa.
When we have resources, we will do the following:
We are combat missionaries to Africa and the Nehemiah's of Africa. We thank God for all the foreign missionaries that God had used to evangelize Africa. May God bless them and bless the nations that God has used to sow the seed of great love into Africa. And we thank God for you and our partner visiting this page today as you work together with us as a co-laborer.
The burden is ours, and we Africans can no longer be at ease in Zion while sin, disease, and poverty ravage our beloved continent. God has used other nationals to labor on our behalf in Africa to start various missionary projects in the late 19th century. As Nehemiah's of Africa and African Hudson Taylor's of China Inland Mission, God has raised us up to continue from where they stopped. God has shown us that he has a great love for us in Africa, and everyone sowing into this African Project is sowing into fertile ground. We are people of integrity and have purposed never to let our God down. For the past twelve (12) years, our hands have faithfully been on the plot in this direction.
Finally, we have a special love and calling to minister to the youth worldwide. Raising youth Deborah's and youth Elisha's and youth Daniel's among this demography. Again, you are welcome on board.
We believe that missions, as started by the Antioch Church in the first century, are an activity of churches in partnership. Archimedes said," Give me a place to stand, and I will move the earth: "da ubi consistam, et terram movebo"—English and Latin trans. A successful mission project needs a concrete base. We have two mission churches in the Niger Delta from where we can move in things Godward by the grace of God.
Reinhard Bonnke, the great German Evangelist to Africa, shared in one of his fire conferences in which I happened to participate in Nigeria in the year 2002 that God gave him the vision of Africa washed with the blood of Jesus and heard the Words "Africa shall be saved" and this dream and vision with the backup of God of Heaven, who is also the God of Africa have enabled him to do the exploits he has recorded in the evangelization of Africa.
African Nehemiah's. Like Africa's Nehemiah's, many of us are doing the bidding of the Master in the different countries of Africa, while God has planted my family primarily in the Niger Delta of Nigeria as our Jerusalem with Africa as our Judaea. There is a saying that' time dilutes the resolutions of the weak'; it is unfortunate that many sons and daughters of Africa have lost this vision for Africa and have replaced it with vision and help to every other land except Africa.
Jesus said, "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor" (Luke 4:18). Statistically, Africa comes out on top in comprehensive poverty. So why should the sons of Africa behave like the Ostrich and behave as if Africa has no need? Many of us are at ease in Zion. After 35 years in the Christian warfront and in Africa, to make sure that the real Gospel is rooted in Africa, as we begin to grow grey, my cry is that the Lord will distribute this burden to your shoulders as he took of the Spirit of Moses and put on the 70 Elders. There is a need in and for Africa, especially Black Africa.
Let us stop playing the Ostrich and go preach the Gospel to the poor in Africa. Let us be passionate about Africa. The evangelization of Africa is our corporate responsibility. Remember the Great Commission. Matt 28:18-20.
